Carter Cordes was born in Austin, Texas, and received her BFA in Studio Art with a concentration in Drawing and Painting and a minor in Art History from the University of North Texas. She has spent her whole life creating artwork, specializing in portraiture with oil paint. In her pieces, she investigates her relationship with her home state, Texas. She has been awarded multiple awards, including the Giesey Award from the Rising Eyes of Texas Exhibition and the Barrow Foundation Curator of Exhibitions award. Carter has exhibited in galleries across Texas and continues to pursue a career in the arts.
